Quality Assurance Scheme?:

The Government is working with electronics suppliers and retailers to make sure consumers have access to up-to-date and reliable information about digital TV products and services. A labelling scheme for televisions and set top boxes is being developed to help consumers understand which products are digital ready and who to go to for advice.

There will be labels for television reception products to indicate that they are either digitally ready or capable of being ready with the purchase of a digitally ready product. Retailers will be able to seek Government accreditation to provide information and advice to consumers about digital TV switchover. Participating retailers will be provided with badges for endorsed staff that display the government logo. These badges will let consumers know who to go to for help and information about what the labels mean and digital TV switchover generally.

In the next few months retail staff will be able to complete their training online via a link from this website.

There will also be a link from this website to a facility for antenna installers to seek government endorsement of their ability to provide services for the reception of digital TV. Under the endorsement scheme, eligible installers will receive a badge and other material with the government logo so consumers can identify appropriate services if they need to install or upgrade their antenna for digital switchover. Antenna installers will need to successfully complete an online assessment in order to become endorsed.

As part of the quality assurance scheme, a standard training package for antenna installers will also be made available through recognised training providers. The endorsement scheme will be launched in the latter half of 2009.

For more information on the retailer accreditation scheme or to register for updates on the antenna installer endorsement scheme email switchover@dbcde.gov.au.

Digital TV Antenna Systems Handbooks?:

The Digital TV Antenna Systems Handbook was jointly issued by the Australian Building Codes Board (ABCB) in co-operation the Digital Switchover Taskforce and television-associated industries. The handbook would assist developers, owners, managers and tenants of buildings with shared antenna systems prepare for digital television switchover.
