<< Ceiling Fan Tips >>

A few points to be aware of with ceiling fans:

1. When a new ceiling fan is installed the fan should always be run at high speed in both the winter and summer modes for about 20 minutes. This allows for the seating of the bearings and will also assist to help for a smoother running fan.

2. Some variations of speed is expected between different fans - no two fans will run at exactly the same speeds. The speed variation between high, medium, and low differs from model to model, this is not a fault.

3. Intermittent noise may sometimes occur in the motor, or wall control due to electricity voltage fluctuations, or other electrical appliances such as microwaves.

4. Any wobble is usually caused by the mounting to the ceiling not being as secure as it should be, or mismatched, or out of alignment blades. Blades should not be mixed from one fan to another as the blade sets are balanced as a set in the factory. For the metal blades the installer needs to check the distance from the blade ends to the ceiling is the same for all blades, and adjust as necessary.

5. If a light is installed to the fan, depending on the style of the light it may cause some resonance of motor sound or vibration. This is not a fault of the fan, if the light is rattling this is an installation issue, or due to the style of the light.

Point 4 is the major concern of most people of late where there seems to be some issues of fan wobble, this can be easily fixed by checking the fan blades as stated above.
